Bean Family Wellness is a family-focused business offering Education, Support, and Resources to new families, and families with young children. We specialize in the pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, and the early years. Our goal at Bean Family Wellness is to keep families living well from day one! We are proud to offer a variety of services to guide families through the journey to meeting your little ‘bean’ and beyond.
Bean Family Wellness’s mission is to help create positive experiences for families while focusing on the seven-dimensions of wellness: Intellectual, Emotional, Physical, Social, Values, Environmental, & Vocational.
Bean Family Wellness provides services in Winnipeg, Manitoba as well as select parts of rural Manitoba. Bean Family Wellness also offers additional services to families remotely via video conferencing, phone, and text support Canada-wide.
It all started when…
In February 2012, Owner of Bean Family Wellness, Ilissa, started her path as a birth doula. Ilissa originally focused soley on doula services under the name Simply Beautiful Childbirth Services.
In 2013, Ilissa added professional photography services to her offerings. Since Ilissa had always had a creative eye (and previous training in photography and graphic design), she wanted to be able to share that with families and offer services for maternity, birth stories, newborns, babies, and families. Ilissa's work has been featured in several internationally published magazines since then, including Midwfiery Today, Pathways to Family Wellness, Holistic Parenting, and Natural Parenting Magazine. In January 2015, Ilissa announced The Art of Breastmilk Project - a photographic and story-telling journey of families feeding their children breastmilk. Ilissa continues to offer these services and work on The Art of Breastmilk Project, while volunteering as a Tiny Footprints Project Volunteer for families who have a premature baby who is currently growing in the NICU.
In January 2015, Ilissa re-branded to what is now Bean Family Wellness, in order to be more inclusive and provide a greater range of speciality services for all families during pregnancy, birth, the postpartum period, and the early family years. Since then, Bean Family Wellness has continued to grow and add new services to better serve the needs of families in Manitoba.
Bean Family Wellness continues to be well known in Manitoba for supporting all families through pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and breastfeeding, and continues to offer new and innovative services to help families on their journey.
